Accident leads to drug arrest

HAZARD — A two-vehicle collision on Dawahare Drive Tuesday lead to the arrest of one woman, who Hazard Police Department (HPD) say was driving under the influence when she crashed into a Kentucky Department of Transportation truck.

HPD say Napier, 28, pulled out in front of another vehicle then proceeded to cross the center line and collided with a Kentucky Department of Transportation vehicle. Both vehicles were disabled after the accident.

According to HPD, officers discovered a marijuana joint and a substance that was in a clear bag, it would be later identified as methamphetamine, in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata that was driven by Napier.

The driver of Kentucky Department of Transportation vehicle refused medical treatment.

Napier was transported to Hazard ARH.

She is facing charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, no registration receipt, no registration plates, failure to produce insurance card, and failure of owner to maintain required insurance.
