HAZARD — A Perry County man is accused of breaking into Maggard’s Florist over the weekend.
According to an arrest citation, a witness told Hazard Police Department (HPD) that they saw Kenneth D. Gay, 29, of Hazard outside of Maggard’s Florist with an unknown male Saturday night.
The witness also told HPD that Gay and the unknown male were driving an older blue truck, the citation says.
HPD say the same type of vehicle was used during a string of thefts the night Maggard’s Florist was broken into.
The citation says Gay was also seen at the other locations that the thefts occurred.
According to the citation, Gay told HPD officers that he was out in the same truck that was described during the night that the thefts happened, but he told HPD officers that he was intoxicated and didn’t remember anything else.
Gay was arrested on Aug. 20 at his residence and was transported to Kentucky River Regional Jail where he was lodged in.
He is facing charges of third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking contents from vehicle less than $500, second-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking less than $500.
Gay is scheduled for arraignment in the Perry County District Courtroom on Aug. 29 at 2:05 p.m.
