HAZARD — A Perry County man was indicted this month on attempted murder, among other charges, in a shooting incident that took place in October 2015.

According to the indictment, Terry G. Newman, 54, of Viper intended to kill Castity Miniard when he shot her in the left arm with a 9mm pistol. The indictment says the bullet used during the shooting was a hollow point.

In April 2015, the indictment says Newman endangered the lives of Charles Campbell, Christy Watts and Billy Engle when he shot in the direction they were in.

The indictment also says during the April 2015 shooting, Newman threw the 9mm pistol over a hill in order to hide the weapon from authorities.

Newman was indicted on one count of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, one count of tampering with physical evidence, one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and one count of second-degree persistent felony offender.

Bail was set in the amount of $500,000 cash plus home incarceration and MCR.

He is scheduled for arraignment in the Perry County Circuit Courtroom on Sept. 1 at 9 a.m.
