Perry County 4-H’ers Score at the Kentucky State Fair

Pictured above are the teams of Avian Bowl and Poultry Judging teams. Besides the quick recall question in the Bowl, these youth compete in judging laying hens, grade interior and exterior eggs and market poultry, and identify parts. Morgan Dobson (East Perry) and her bunnies are becoming a well-known competitor in the Rabbit Show circuit! Morgan shows her champion-winning rabbit at the KY State Fair. A third opportunity for youth to be involved is the 4-H Project Exhibits. This year fifteen county champion projects were entered at the Fair. Receiving a 1st place Blue in Foods was Haley Patterson (RW Combs), Antoinette Contento (Hazard High) , two blues for Chloe Jent( Hazard Middle); 2nd place Red to Nicole Fugate (East Perry), Ava Dixon (Hazard Middle), and 3rd place White to Mikey Smith (East Perry), Kendra Miller (East Perry) and Robert Bowling (Hazard Middle). Needlework: Blue and Red for Ava Dixon, Blue for Mikey Smith, Red for Kendra Miller. Home Environment: Blue for Chloe Jent. Entomology with Honey exhibit was Morgan Dobson.
