Jessica Monique Higgins is the Hazard Community and Technical College Student Government Association (SGA) President for the 2016-2017 school year. Ms. Higgins lives in Knott County and graduated from Knott County Central High School in 2014. She is majoring in Construction Technology at the HCTC Technical Campus. She is a member of the Student Support Services Program Leadership-Education-Achievement-Development-Service (LEADS).

Since she enrolled at HCTC in August 2014, she has spoken at the Martin Luther King Jr. community breakfast for two years, served on the Campus Environment Committee, and was active in Student Support Services.

“I feel my job is to reach out to students. If they have any problems or issues, they can come to me,” she said.

Ms. Higgins has set the first meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Technical Campus in the Devert Owens Building, room 113. Any student wanting to join is encouraged to attend. Goals for SGA will be decided at the meeting. “I would like to see us involved in the community so we can serve; I also want to talk to other students and see what their needs are,” she said.
