HAZARD — A Perry County woman from the City of Hazard was indicted this month charges relating to SNAP fraud.
Kathy Slover Whitaker, 49, of Hazard was indicted on three charges of fraudulently use of ID card or electronic code for benefits.
According to the indictment, on March 11 Whitaker sold cologne and cigarettes on a SNAP public benefit card to a cooperating witness. The indictment says Whitaker knew the items were prohibited for purchase on the SNAP benefit card.
In a separate incident, the indictment says Whitaker sold four packs of cigarettes on a SNAP benefit card to a cooperating witness on March 23. Whitaker knew the cigarettes were prohibited for purchase on the SNAP benefit card, the indictment says.
Whitaker was indicted on three counts of fraudulent use of ID card or electronic code for benefits.
Bail was set in the amount of $5,000 cash in the case. Whitaker is scheduled to appear in the Perry County Circuit Courtroom at 9 a.m. on March 30.
