HAZARD — The VFW Post 7387 in Hazard honored veterans and their families over the weekend for Veterans Day. The VFW held a dinner to recognize the sacrifice veterans give to defend the freedoms the United States hold dear.
The Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center brought their veterans to attend the dinner. As they arrived, VFW members honored them with a 21 gun salute.
All veterans from every branch, along with their families, were invited to attend the dinner.
Commander of Post 7387 Bruce Ashley said this was a tradition the VFW has ever year. He said it was important to remember the fallen and those that are still here.
“So people don’t forget their sacrifices,” said Ashley.
Ashley said people should honor and remember the veterans, not just on Veterans Day but every day.
He said without the veterans, Americans wouldn’t have the freedoms they enjoy today.
