KRAGAN — A two-vehicle accident claimed the lives of a Breathitt County couple Saturday evening. Kentucky State Police (KSP) says they responded to an accident five miles south of Jackson on KY 15, along with Breathitt County EMS.

According to KSP, their initial investigation determined Leon Moore, 59, of Whick was operating a silver 2008 Honda CRV on south KY 15 when the vehicle crossed the northbound lane and collided with a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck, being driven by Aaron Worley, 42, of Georgetown.

Both Moore and his wife, Peggy Moore, 60, of Whick were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breathitt County Coroner. Peggy was a passenger in the vehicle that was driven by Moore.

Worley, the operating of the pickup truck, was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He currently remains in stable condition.

KSP says seatbelts were in use by all occupants.

Results of the toxicology samples from both drivers are pending. No autopsies will be performed.

Currently, KSP says they are unsure what caused this collision. Trooper David Hobbs with KSP Post 7 in Richmond is in charge of the investigation.
