HAZARD — During the morning hours of Christmas Day, the Family Dollar on Hazard Village Shopping Center was robbed by a male wearing a dark hoodie. Hazard Police Department (HPD) is asking the public’s help identifying the suspect. Surveillance footage captured from inside the store captured pictures of the robber.
According to HPD, the robber entered the store around 9:55 a.m. on Dec. 25. The clerk on duty told HPD that the male subject had one of his hands inside his dark hoodie and made gestures that led the clerk to believe he had a gun.
The robber took an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes, HPD says. The male subject then fled the scene in a newer model black four-door car. HPD believe the car was a Toyota Camry. The car also had chrome trim around the windows and silver wheel covers.
HPD is asking the public’s help identifying the suspect. Anyone with any information is urged to call HPD at 606-436-2222.
