HAZARD— The boil water advisory that was issued on August 12 has been lifted.

According to a release issued by City Manager Grady Varney, the boil water advisory from August 12 that included the affected areas of Coal Harbor to the head of Big Creek and Avawam has been lifted. The boil water advisory had been put in place because of the potential threat of bacterial contamination due to a main line water break of the Hazard water system.

The Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet, Division of Water, had determined through analyses of of water samples that the water is safe for human use and consumption
