Perry County Spelling Bee finals

PERRY COUNTY — The finalists in the Spelling Bee for Perry County Schools competed on Feb. 16 in the Perry County Central High School Library. The champion from each of Perry County’s eight elementary schools was present to showcase their skills.

The contestants were: Alyssa Oliver representing Willard, Nick Whitaker representing R.W. Combs, Gracie Couch representing Leatherwood, Jacob Overbee representing Viper, Hailey Hurt representing A.B. Combs, Ceaira Mitchell representing Robinson, Izaiah Pugh representing East Perry and Brooklyn Riley representing Buckhorn. Each of those contestants advanced to the county-wide competition by winning the Spelling Bees at their respective schools.

Nick Whitaker of R.W. Combs claimed first place in the Perry County Spelling Bee. Brooklyn Riley of Buckhorn came in second place. Alyssa Oliver of Willard finished third.
