HAZARD— Aaron Paul Jones, 37, of Yerkes sent police on a high speed chase on August 12. Jones was driving a silver Camaro near the Daniel Boone motel, where police attempted to pull him over due to improper placement of tags. Jones allegedly fled in the car on Highway 15 (North), then onto Ky Highway 80 (East). Jones passed cars on the shoulder of the highway at a high speed, forcing cars off the road until he wrecked on Ky Highway 80 in front of Clutts Auto. Jones then allegedly jumped out of the car and fled on foot over the guard rail towards Clutts Auto. Police caught him in between buildings near El Azul Grande.
Jones has been charged with: Fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, first-degree; fleeing or evading police on foot, second-degree; driving DUI suspended license, first-offense; operating a motor vehicle under the influence; wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree; wanton endangerment, first-degree; no/expired Ky registration; no/expired plates, and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance card.
Jones was incarcerated by arresting officer Bruce Fields with the Perry County Sherrif’s Department.
