HAZARD— A three day crime spree came to an end in Hazard on Saturday after Hazard City Police Department (HPD) arrested a suspect who is believed to have robbed two gas stations early Saturday morning. The young man is also believed to have been involved with two other robberies in Indiana on Thursday and Friday.

HPD say Derek Ryan Moore, 20, of Stroh, Ind., first robbed Apple Market gas station on Morton Boulevard shortly after midnight, and then robbed the second gas station, an Exxon Double Kwik located on HWY 15, minutes later. He allegedly robbed both gas stations at gunpoint.

According to HPD, officers located Moore who was driving a black car, which HPD believed to be stolen, near Hazard ARH and when officers attempted to approach Moore, HPD say that he sped off and lead officers on a pursuit that ended near Little Bear Lane on HWY 80 near the Knott County line. Moore was taken into custody and transported to the Kentucky River Regional Jail where he is being held.

Moore is also a suspect in two other armed robbery cases that happened in Ind., on Thursday and Friday. According to a Facebook post by The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, Moore had allegedly robbed a Duck C’s Store in LaGrange County and a Speedway gas station in Noble County at gunpoint.

Moore is facing charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, and theft of a motor vehicle registration plate.
