Art Adventure Camp


Appalachian Artisan Center is having “Art Adventure Camp for Kids,” ages 6-12. Kids will be learning painting, basket weaving, woodworking, and more! Camp starts July 14-18, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the KSoC. The deadline to register in June 30. For more information contact the Appalachian Artisan Center at 606-785-9855.


P. W. Hall Reunion


Once again and for the 88th year. the descendants of Phillip Whisman Hall will celebrate our reunion on Hall Mountain. The family will gather on July 26, at the playground and picnic area behind Viper Elementary School at 4 p.m. Halls from all around are invited to bring your picnic dinners, chairs, and games and join in family fun. If you have any items to auction off to help with expenses please bring them also. We would enjoy seeing old photographs of the Hall clan. Looking forward to seeing you all on July 26th.


HCTC campuses changes closing times


Effective August 1, 2014, Hazard Community and Technical College’s Hazard Campus and Technical Campus will be closed to all traffic on Mondays through Fridays from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.; on Saturdays, the campuses will be closed from 4 p.m. through Sunday night and opening Monday at 7 a.m.


Signs will be placed along campus entrances to alert motorists of the change.


Fall EMT Class at HCTC


The Fall EMT class will begin in early August so don’t delay in getting signed up for this exciting class. EMT’s are trained to quickly respond to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries and accident scenes. EMT’s are employed by local ambulance services.
