Bulldogs fall out of All “A” in opening round

Hazard’s Ryan Smith led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points as they fell to Leslie County 54-52 in the opening round of the All “A”. Smith also had 7 rebounds.


Early last week, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Leslie County for the opening round of the All “A” 14th region tournament. The game proved to be an old-fashioned barnburner, with the Eagles taking the 54-52 win. The loss to Leslie County was the first since the 2001-02 season.

The two teams hit on the same total field goals (21) with Hazard shooting 42.9% and Leslie County 44.7%. The difference coming from behind the arc. Hazard hit one (10%) and Leslie County 5 (29.4%).

The Bulldogs held the advantage in free throw shooting 56.3% to the Eagles 41.2%. The big advantage for Hazard came on the boards, where the Bulldogs held the 37-19 advantage.

Hazard (52) Reese Fletcher 8 (9 rebounds), Jacob Johnson 12 (5 rebounds), Wade Pelfrey 5 (3 rebounds), Ryan Smith 13 (7 rebounds), Logan Hall 1 (3 rebounds), Cheikh Ndiaye 8 (5 rebounds) and Chase Pennington 5 (1 rebound).
