Perry County man, who earlier this year evaded capture twice in less than a week, has been indicted this month on over 20 charges related to the first of these two incidents.

William Feltner, 35, of Hazard, was originally arrested on May 16. Police had received a tip on May 15 that Feltner had broken into a home in the Christopher community, and had followed him to a gas station in Airport Gardens. Feltner allegedly rammed two police cruisers at the gas station before abandoning his car and leading police on a foot pursuit where he was eventually able to get away. He was found the next day at a residence in Combs.

According to the indictment, Feltner was travelling with a passenger and two minors in the vehicle when the incident was alleged to have occurred.

Feltner was indicted on one count each of first- and second-degree fleeing or evading police, three counts third-degree assault, six counts first-degree wanton endangerment, three counts first-degree criminal mischief, and three counts first-degree unlawful imprisonment, with all but one being Class D felonies carrying a maximum sentence of five years each. Feltner was also indicted on one count first-degree persistent felony offender.

A cash bond of $50,000 has been set it the case. Feltner’s arraignment is set for September 5.

Feltner may also face a subsequent grand jury indictment later this year related to a different case. A few days after his arrest on May 16, authorities said he escaped from jail custody while being transported from the courthouse in Hazard to the Kentucky River Regional Jail. He remained on the loose for several days before police located him in the woods near a residence in the Krypton community. He was charged in that instance with escape and other offenses, though the case has not gone before the grand jury.
