BULAN—People in the Jakes Fork community of Perry County are still under a boil water advisory nearly a week after it was issued.

The City of Hazard issued a boil water advisory for all of Jakes Fork on Tuesday, July 29.

According to the advisory, the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet, Division of Water, warn that the potential exists for bacterial contamination of the Hazard Water System in that area due to a main line water break.

The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the threat of contamination has been eliminated and appropriate samples have shown the water quality to be of acceptable standards.
