HAZARD — A two-vehicle injury collision occurred on Highway 15 last Friday. The accident happened near the ExxonMobil gas station and the turn off to Johnny Cox All-American Drive.

Officer James East with the Hazard City Police Department said it appeared one vehicle lost the use of its brakes.

“The car wasn’t braking properly,” East said. “He tried to avoid other vehicles, actually even steered his vehicle into the bridge to try to stop. When that happened, it spun him out of control, and he hit the white truck.”

East said one female was taken to the hospital, but her injuries were not known. A man was also treated for scratches and abrasions on his right arm, noted East.

Names of the victims and further information on any specific injuries have not been released.

Officer East does not expect any charges to be filed as a result of the accident.
