Bulldogs pull off big road win

The Hazard Bulldog football team loaded the bus on Friday and made the trip to Prestonsburg to take on the Blackcats. The Bulldogs were down a couple of key players in the game, but managed to pull off the big win 24-14.
The Bulldogs’ offense was sluggish in the early going, but they still managed to pick up crucial yardage when needed. Just when it looked like their first sustained drive would stall, Kody Arnett broke through the Blackcat defense and rushed 29 yards for the score. Tanner Morgan found Chris Hudson in the end zone for the conversion, giving Hazard the early 8-0 lead.
The only other score of the first half would belong to Prestonsburg. The Blackcats would pick up a touchdown late in the half as Daniel Frasier caught a Jared Jarrel pass and finished it with a short run. The play covered 32 yards. After Frasier caught the conversion, the game went to the half tied at eight.
The Blackcats added to their tally early in the third period as they finished off a long drive with one-yard run by Jared Jarrel. The conversion was no good, setting the score at 14-8.
Hazard would not allow Prestonsburg to hold the momentum for long as they wasted little time moving toward the end zone. The Bulldogs finished off their drive with a 10-yard pass from Morgan to Hudson. Kody Arnett took a Morgan pass and dove over the line for the 16-14 Hazard lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, Hazard caught a break when Prestonsburg could not handle a punt. A mad scrabble for the ball ensued, with the Bulldogs’ Jacob Blanton falling on it on the 13-yard line.
Hazard was able to get into the end zone with an 11-yard pass from Morgan to Hudson. Hudson then caught the conversion for the 24-14 lead.
The Bulldogs then went to work to preserve the win, as the Blackcats were unable to crack Hazard’s defense.
