The Buckhorn Wildcats traveled to Walton Beach, Fla., over the Christmas break to participate in the Walton Sun Blowout tournament. The Wildcats began play with the home standing Walton Braves.


It was nip-and-tuck early, with the Wildcats getting a late flurry to take the 15-10 lead at the horn.

The Braves grabbed the momentum early in the second period, and began to cut into the Wildcats’ margin. At the intermission, Buckhorn clung to a slim 24-23 lead.

Nothing was settled in the third period as the two teams played to a 16-all tie (40-39). Buckhorn finally took control in the fourth quarter, and routed Walton in the final frame. The Wildcats went on to win the game by the final score of 61-46.

Connor Hoskins finished the game with a double-double (23 points and 16 rebounds).
