On Tuesday, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the Buckhorn Lady Wildcats in high school basketball action. The Lady Wildcats controlled the tempo, and led for the majority of the game, but the Lady Bulldogs picked up the pace late and overcame their opponent for the 59-45 win.
Buckhorn controlled the game in the paint early, and went on to take the 13-7 lead in the first period. Hazard began to hit a few shots from outside in the second period, and tightened the score as the half came to an end. The Lady Wildcats went into the locker room with the 19-15 lead.
Buckhorn continued to stay one step ahead of Hazard in the third quarter, but a couple of late three-pointers put the Lady Wildcats on top. Going into the final period, the Lady Bulldogs were on top 32-30.
Hazard ran out to a double-digit lead just minutes into the fourth quarter. Buckhorn was unable to regain the momentum down the stretch, and the Lady Bulldogs collected the 59-45 win.
