The Hazard Lady Bulldogs hooked up with the Powell County Lady Pirates as part of the Swing Break tournament on Saturday. The Lady Pirates looked to have the game all but wrapped up when the Lady Bulldogs shocked them with seven runs in the final inning to take the 10-9 win.

By the time the top of the third inning was over, Powell County had built an 8-0 lead. In the bottom of the frame, Hazard cut three runs off the tally (3-8).

The Lady Pirates went up 9-3 in the fourth inning, leaving the Lady Bulldogs a pair of at bats to pull out the win. Hazard failed to score in the fourth inning, but found a rally in the next frame.

The ball began to fall for the Lady Bulldogs in the fifth inning, and little by little, they worked their way back into the game. When Maddison Niece’s ball found a hole in the outfield, the winning run crossed the plate (10-9).

Hazard (10) Maddison Niece 2 hits (HR), 1 run and 3 RBI; Aaliyah Stupart 2 hits and 2 runs; McKenzie Herald 1 run; Lexie Griffie 2 hits, 1 run, and 2 RBI; Alyssa Muha 3 hits, 1 run, and 1 RBI; Tori Wells 1 hit, 1 run, and 2 RBI; Jordan Fugate 1 hit and 1 run; and Chandler Maggard 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI.
