The Hazard Bulldogs played a pair of soccer matches this week. Although they didn’t come away with a win, they came away with a tie and a loss.
In their first game of the week, Hazard hosted the Oneida Baptist Institute Mountaineers. The Bulldogs took control of the game on several occasions, but failed to finish off the Mountaineers.
With just a few minutes remaining in the game, Hazard held the lead. The Bulldogs then gave up a goal late, but couldn’t find the go ahead goal as time expired.
The game would end with a 4-all tie. Justin Combs scored all four goals for the Bulldogs.
In their second game of the week, Hazard would host district foe Letcher Central. The Bulldogs took the early lead, and went into the half tied. However, they would not be able to hold on for the win.
Hazard took the early lead with a 40-yard free kick by Justin Combs. Letcher Central would then tied the game with a rebound goal.
The Bulldogs would then find a way to score as Daniel Turner picked up a pass from Tyler Collins for the 2-1 lead. Again, the Cougars would find a way to tie the game with a shot that bounced over the goalie’s head (2-2). The score went into the half.
The Bulldogs scored but a single goal in the second half as Justin Combs connected on his second goal. Unfortunately, the Cougars had three goals left in their offense. Letcher Central went on to win the game by the final score of 3-6.
