BEARVILLE – Two brothers were killed Thursday after the car in which they were traveling collided with another vehicle traveling along Highway 80 in Knott County.

Troopers with the Kentucky State Police were called to the scene in the Bearville community at 8:57 Thursday morning. Upon arrival, authorities were able to determine that the collision involved two vehicles, including a 1998 BMW passenger car. Both the driver of the car, 64-year-old Philip Huff of Garner, and his brother, 44-year-old Carlos W. Huff of Hindman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the collision occurred when the BMW, which was traveling in the west bound lane, crossed the median and collided with a 2014 Dodge Ram being operated by 53-year-old Saka Disu of Proctorville, Ohio.

Disu was transported to the Hazard ARH medical center, though his injuries were not life threatening, according to a press release issued by the Kentucky State Police.

Police say seat belts were not in use at the time of the incident, and toxicology reports are pending.
