HAZARD — An early morning fire on Wednesday of last week destroyed a home in Glomawr.

The Hazard Fire Department received a call at 8:47 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, that the residence at 647 Raccoon Creek Road was on fire, Fire Chief Sam Stacy said.

“When the guys got there, the structure was totally involved. The fire was already through the roof into the second floor,” Stacy explained.

Stacy said no one was injured in the fire as no one was home at the time. Jake’s Branch Fire Department was called in to provide assistance and helped to supply water. Stacy added that no other structures were involved in the fire.

The chief said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
