HAZARD — A two-vehicle accident in the Combs community of Hazard has left one man with a broken leg. Officials and witnesses on the scene, however, said that the outcome could have been a lot worse.
Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Combs, who was the responding officer on the scene, said that a car traveling westbound and a motorcycle going eastbound collided near a driveway leading to an off-road yard sale. Witnesses claimed that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The operator of the motor vehicle had no visible injuries, but the driver of the motorcycle was taken by ambulance to the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, Combs said.
Deputy Combs said he visited the injured man in the hospital and spoke with him.
“He was complaining of some leg and ankle pain,” Combs said. “Other than that, he was alert and cheerful. He was fine.”
Names of those involved in the accident were not released as of press time.
Combs said no charges are expected to be filed.
