Comic book fans in Perry and surrounding counties have something to look forward to this weekend as the Perry County Public Library is set to host its annual Comic Calooza.
For those who may not have attended previous Comic Caloozas, the library sets asides a couple of hours in August to host activities for local residents ringing from kids to adults. Jennifer Pennington came up with the idea three years ago, and said it’s been getting more interest each year.
“This is our third year, and I think it’s going really well,” she said.
Included in this year’s event will be the Inflatamaniacs, a family-friendly act which viewers of “America’s Got Talent” may be familiar with. Additionally, Kentucky comic author Jenny Stead, who publishes the online comic “Ninja’d,” will be at this year’s Comic Calooza. Pennington noted a few comics book superheroes will also appear.
On the kids side, Pennington said new comics will be available and zombie face panting will be available for the teens, as well as the “Walking Dead” game.
Otherwise, folks familiar with Comic Calooza can expect the same type of event as the previous two years, including a helping of Superman ice cream purchased specially for this coming weekend.
“We’re going to have a lot of the same stuff we have had in the past, so hopefully they’ll enjoy that,” Pennington said.
This year’s Comic Calooza will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Perry County Public Library. You can call 436-2475 for more information.
