LETTERS: The buck stops here
A few days ago I spoke at the dedication of the new East Perry Elementary school. This new school will mean more to students than anyone can ever imagine. This state-of-the-art facility will give our youth a leg up toward their high school and college future.
For over 51 years I have known John C. “Punkin” Combs, and his entire life up to now has been to make sure children in Perry County, Ky., have the best in educational and sporting opportunities.
For over 38 years “Punkin” has been a member of the Perry County Board of Education, and during this entire period of time his devotion has been 100 percent in making sure all children in Perry County have what is needed to help them be successful in life.
I personally worked hard to prevent a facility being built in Perry County Park because of limited space and traffic. Now look at 24 acres of land with the newest elementary school in the commonwealth and a football/soccer field that is tops! A new girls’ softball field is under construction and nearly 800 students will have a chance to prove they are as bright and smart as anyone in the world.
