This morning as I think about the tragic passing of Officer Darry Paige my thoughts quickly began to think about other larger than life Heroes and personalities that our tight knit community has lost over the years. There are too many to begin to name and I realize that everyone is a Hero to someone.

I have known the Paige family for most of my life. As I read in the lead article of the Williamson Daily News, I must agree that the Paige children were raised right. Reverend Paige always had a smile. You would see him in hospitals praying with the sick though he may not have known one of their names. I remember running into him in Food City on 09/11/11. He spoke peace and comfort to me, as only he could. And that smile, kindness and warm heart the he and his wife possess certainly made it’s way to the children. I have so many stories so share about this family but so do hundreds of others in this community. That is why the Paige family, in my estimation, are Royalty.

I will close this column today with scripture from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 -

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Paul wrote this letter to the Church of Thessalonika. Paul had travelled to this region and preached the Gospel of Christ. He had taught them that those who died in Christ would raise from the dead one day, and we all would rise and meet Christ in the air. Christ had only ascended into Heaven approximatley 20 years before Scripture was written. The citizens of Thessalonika were worried for they thought the Second Coming of Christ was imminent. Again, this Scripture was written in approximatley A.D. 52. So we surmise that people have been mourning loved ones in Christ for many, many years. Again, all who read this artice have lost loved ones in Christ and wait on that reunion day.

Paul writes these lovley scriptures, then ends in verse 18. COMFORT ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS! From at lease A.D. 52 until today, we all mourn the loss of loved ones. But nevertheless God’s Word is true. For the Paige family to the rest of us who have lost loved ones, COMFORT ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS. Christ will return as He promised. To those who died in Christ there will be a Glad Reunion Day.

May God bless you and keep you, Make His face shine upon you, and give you peace.
