The Perry County Central Commodore boys’ soccer team played a pair of games last week and came away with the split. The Commodores opened their week by hosting the North Laurel Jaguars, and closed on the road at the Prestonsburg Blackcats.
Perry Central had a difficult time with North Laurel. The Commodores fell behind 2-0 in the first half after a penalty kick and a rebound goal put the Jaguars on top.
The Commodores played better defense in the second half, but could not finish on the offensive end. Perry Central fell to North Laurel by the final score of 2-0. It was the Commodores’ first loss of the season.
In their second game, the Commodores traveled to Prestonsburg to take on the Blackcats. The game was scoreless in the first half, and for much of the second half.
Perry Central caught a break as they were tackled in the box on a move to the goal. Tyler Mullins made good on the penalty kick, giving his team the 1-0 lead.
The 1-0 lead held to the end, giving Perry Central a split of the week’s games.
