On Tuesday, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the region’s top-rated Knott Central Patriots. The Bulldogs put up a valiant fight throughout the contest, but in the end came up a little shy 48-51.

The Bulldogs struggled to keep pace with the Patriots in the first period, and at the horn were trailing 17-10. However, Hazard was able to readjust their game plan in the second quarter and got the better of Knott. The rally sent the Bulldogs into the intermission trailing by one 26-25.

Hazard continued to control the tempo with their defense in the second half. The Bulldogs led for a brief while during the third frame, but going into the final period, they trailed 40-35.

Knott County could not shake Hazard in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs kept the game within striking distance. The Bulldogs would get a final shot as time ran out, but could not connect. Knott Central went on to win a hard fought contest by the final tally of 51-48.
