Last week, the Perry County Central Commodores went on the road to Scott County to take on the state’s number two team in the Cardinals. Perry Central was able to keep the game close in the first half, but fell behind in the second. A late rally pulled them within five points, but they could get no closer as they fell 86-78.

A determined Perry Central team was able to match Scott County blow for blow in the first half. The first and second quarters ended in identical 19-all ties, sending the game to the intermission tied at 38.

The Commodores came out ice cold in the third period, allowing the Cardinals to distance themselves. With eight minutes left to play, Perry Central trailed 65-52.

Perry Central made a strong comeback in the fourth quarter as they drew to within five with about a minute left to play. The Commodores were forced to put the Cardinals on the line, and when Scott County made good on their free throws, Perry Central was left on the short end of a 86-78 score.

Justin Johnson led the Commodores with 36 points and 26 rebounds.
