This past Sunday there was wind and rain at the foot of Duane Mountain. This quick moving storm knocked down a giant tree, 40 feet high and 3 feet across. Utility lines were at a danger point with lines running through the yard and over the roadway. As an 81-year old stroke victim, there wasn’t much I could do.
Jakes Branch and Avawam fire departments both were on the scene in minutes. Very soon Paul Pratt with Kentucky Power arrived and took care of the electric problem. My favorite magistrate, Keith Miller, brought his chainsaw and worked in the rain until he made a path through all of the tree limbs and the trunk.
Other county workers are completing the cleanup. In Perry County, we have wonderful men and women who keep us safe.
