HAZARD — Two men were arrested Friday and charged in connection with the alleged theft of metal from a gas station just outside of Hazard city limits.

The Kentucky State Police post in Hazard received a call at 3 p.m. Friday reporting that two male subjects in a blue Nissan pickup were stealing metal from the Daniel Boone BP on Highway 15.

Trooper Isaac Whitaker later located the vehicle on old Ky. Highway 80, and was assisted during a traffic stop by Perry County Deputy Shannon Woods. The vehicle was occupied by two men identified as Joshua Campbell and Richard Snay, along with a third man who police did not identify and say was not connected to the theft.

Campbell and Snay were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property under $500, while the property recovered was returned to the business, according to a press release from KSP.

Campbell and Snay were lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard.
