Another successful Black Gold Festival is in the books, and again thousands of people were drawn to downtown Hazard for a bevy of good food and entertainment for the three-day festival. The Kiwanis Club’s carnival was again a big hit for local kids, while the Kentucky Headhunters drew a large crowd to the stage beside City Hall of Friday. Coal also played a central role, with the Coal Mining Our Future display set up on the lower end of Main Street, and included several pieces of heavy equipment, along with a Stop the War on Coal rally Saturday afternoon.
