Buckhorn picks up district win over Leslie

On Tuesday, the Buckhorn Wildcats hosted the Leslie County Eagles in a district matchup. Leslie County took the early lead, but could not hold off a second half rally by Buckhorn.

The pace was at a fevered pitch in the opening period, with the Eagles taking a 16-13 lead. The Eagles continued to control the tempo as the second period began. However, the Wildcats came up with a rally that left them a basket shy of Leslie County at the break (29-27).

The Wildcats came out of the break ready to play and quickly took the lead. Buckhorn was able to stay one-step ahead of Leslie County throughout the period, and went to the final period with a 45-42 advantage.

The Wildcats were able to assert themselves in the fourth quarter, extending the margin to double digits. The Eagles had a couple of shots at the lead, but Buckhorn was able to fend off the threat. The Wildcats went on to win the game by the final count of 68-58.
