The Hazard Bulldogs played a pair of games last week, starting the game with a win on the road, and closing with a loss at home. The Bulldogs opened the week with a hard-fought 62-56 win over the Letcher Central Cougars, a team that is peaking at the right moment. They then fell 57-42 to the top team in Eastern Kentucky, the South Laurel Cardinals.
In their first game, the Bulldogs struggled early with the Cougars, and ended the first period with a narrow 15-11 advantage. The Cougars rallied in the second period, outscoring the Bulldogs 17-12 in the frame, giving them the 28-17 advantage at the intermission.
Hazard would reverse the 17-12 score in the third period, giving them the 44-40 advantage with eight minutes to play. Letcher County would make a run at the Bulldogs in the final period, but could not break their resolve. Hazard was able to hold on for the 62-56 win. Justin Hicks led the Bulldogs in scoring on this night with 29 points.

In their second game of the week, Hazard hosted the South Laurel Cardinals. The Bulldogs were able to hang around throughout the game, and was well in striking range as the game drew near the end, However, the Cardinals proved to be too strong down the stretch, pulling away for the 57-42 win.
Justin Hicks and Michael Campbell teamed up to lead the Bulldogs with 13 points each.
