Charles Edgar Jones, 79, died Monday, Dec. 17 at the Hazard ARH medical center.
He was born April 6, 1933 at Lost Creek, the son of the late Dave Jones and the late Grace Terry Jones, and was also preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Jones, and sister, Alma Faye Jones.
He was a life-long resident of Perry County and a United States Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean conflict. He was affiliated with the Don Blair Memorial Baptist Church and an avid gardener. He loved people and enjoyed giving gold coins to dear friends, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jones of Lost Creek; sons Charles E. Jones, Jr. of Grapevine and Darryl G. Jones and wife Wanda of Sixteen Mile; daughters Cassandra Lynn Grigsby of Grapevine and Arlene Elizabeth Jones and wife Julia Greenup of Versailles; brothers Sanford L. Jones of Richmond, Raymond Jones of Xenia, Ohio, and David Jones, Jr. of Lost Creek; sister Jean Hatfield of Brentwood, Tn.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 21 at noon at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard with Travis France and Merill David Collins officiating. The interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery located at Lost Creek. The visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Military rites will be performed by the Hazard–Perry County D.A.V. Chapter 64.
