Chavies holds on for 43-42 win

The Chavies Cardinals played the third game of the 14th region coaches' association tournament on Saturday. Their opening round opponent would be the Cardinals of Martha Jane Potter.

Chavies jumped out to the early lead, only to see Potter get back to within one (12-11) by the horn. Scoring dropped off for both teams in the second period, but Chavies still managed to hold onto the lead. Going into the break, Chavies held a 21-16 advantage.

Again in the third period, neither team was able to gain an advantage, and the five point lead stayed with Chavies going into the final period (29-24). Chavies finally put some breathing room between them and Potter in the fourth period.

Early on, Chavies was able to build a double-digit lead, but it would not hold. Late in the game, Potter began a run that would put them to within one of Chavies. However, Chavies was able to hold on to advance in the tournament with the 43-42 win.

Eric Stidham and Curtis Colwell each had 11 points in the win.
