On Thursday, the Perry County Central Commodores and the Buckhorn Wildcats took to the soccer field in a district match-up. The Commodores struggled with their offense in the first, but were able to surge ahead in the second half to pull out the win.

The Commodores controlled the tempo for most of the first half, but could not get a clear shot through the Wildcat defense. Late in the half, however, D. J. Hall was able to find Logan Spencer in the box for the goal and the 1-0 lead.

Just before the half, the Commodores picked up a tripping penalty in the box, setting the Wildcats up with a penalty kick. Trevor Henson made good on the attempt, tying the game at one just before the whistle.

Perry Central picked up the pace in the second half and began to take control of the game. D. J. Hall gave the Commodores the 2-1 lead with a header off a John Pence pass.

The Commodores took the 3-1 lead after David Jones and Patrick Coots hooked up on a drive to the goal. Jones hit Coots with a perfect pass in the box, and Coots took it to the net.

The final goal came when Tanner Brown penetrated the Buckhorn defense and D. J. Hall hit him in stride for the goal. Perry Central went on to win the contest by the final count of 4-1.

Perry Central stats
