David “Randy” Hurt, 54, of Hazard, died Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the coal mines, and son of the late Woodrow Hurt and the late Dora Ritchie Hurt.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Hurt; sons Tyler Hurt and Ross Hurt; sisters Brenda Smith and husband Billy Ray, Venisa Hurt and Bobby Longsworth, and Terry Walker and husband Troy; brothers Roy Hurt and wife Joyce, Ira Hurt and wife Donna, and Kenny Hurt and wife Shauna; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9. Services will follow with Buddy Turner officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center.
