He was born in Hazard, the son of Christine Sellars Combs and the late James Hurst Combs. He was a life-long resident of Perry County and was a carpenter by occupation. He is survived by his mother, Christine S. Combs of Combs; son Denny Combs and wife Laura of Chavies; brothers Hurst Gene Combs of Combs and Dorse James Combs of Hazard; sisters Joyce Christine Lamb of Hazard, Connie Gail Greene of Atlanta and Theresa Sexton of Hazard; grandchild Harley Combs and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 19 at 1 p.m. at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Merill David Collins officiating. The burial will follow in the Combs Cemetery located at Combs. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 19 from noon to 1 p.m.
