An Eastern Kentucky dentist recently opened a new pediatric dental practice in Hazard.

Dr. Andrew Farmer is from Leslie County, and during the grand opening of his office last week, said that it was important to him to come back to Eastern Kentucky to work as a dentist.

“I always wanted to come back home to practice dentistry,” said Farmer. “Pediatric dentistry is obviously a huge need in this area, which is why I chose pediatric dentistry.”

The office opened on Morton Boulevard July 17, though the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony were held on September 14, and the newly completed office was opened to the public.

Farmer said he chose his new location because he wanted to be close to his hometown, but also in an area where he could help people in a wider range.

“This is still close to home, but this is a bigger area and is centrally located,” said Farmer. “I felt we would be better off here in terms of being able to draw from more surrounding counties.”
