Farris Morgan, Sr., 80, of New Carlisle, died Saturday, Feb. 16 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Jerolene Morgan; granddaughter April Dawn Hamm; parents Elijah and Mary Hamblin Morgan; and a host of siblings.
He is survived by his children, Larry Morgan, Mary McCollum and husband Ronnie, Linda Gossett, Farris Morgan, Jr. and wife Ellen, Angelia Morgan, and Marcella Morgan; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Morgan and husband Arlie, and Jackie Campbell and husband La Vern; special brother-in-law Odis Thompson; life long special friend Bobby Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was avid about helping others and a being a good, honorable, Christian man. There will never be another like him. He never met a stranger. He loved antiques, garage sales, and flowers. He was very patriotic and stood up for what he believed in.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Yerkes Baptist Church. Services will follow with Paul Couch officiating. Interment will be at Yerkes Baptist Cemetery in Yerkes.
