Despite an ongoing recession, another new business has opened in Perry County. Cameron’s Cyber Café in Airport Gardens opened on June 6.
Cameron’s Cyber Café is an Internet café located at the Grand Vue Plaza that also offers sweepstakes style games.
Brad Cameron said that he has been thinking about opening a business for some times as a way to strike out on his own. In his search for business ideas he came across the idea of an Internet café that offers the opportunity to win money.
“I have been looking for business to try to get into for a little while to try to get out on my own,” said Cameron. “I found this online and thought it would be a good idea, and I thought people would enjoy it.”
Since opening, he said that business has been steady but fairly slow to start. But despite this they have already had several winners.
“We have had some winners,” said Cameron. “I would say we have had five or six winners and have had a lot of fun down there.”
The café is decorated with a homey feeling. Two over stuffed leather couches sit in the middle surrounded by dozens of brand new computers with high speed Internet access.
“We keep a nice clean, comfortable environment for everyone,” Cameron added. “Anybody can come in and enjoy the computers.”
The high speed Internet can be accessed at an hourly rate. If someone just needs to quickly send an email or check on something, then they also have the option of paying just twelve cents a minute.
“What we have is computers where people can come in and use Facebook, email and whatever they would like to do,” said Cameron.
He said that in the short amount of time they have been open they have already seen several return visitors, and hopes to see an upward trend.
“I would like to see people come in and take advantage of it,” he said.
