On Thursday, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs’ soccer team hosted the Shelby Valley Lady Wildcats. The Lady Bulldogs picked up their first goal of the season in the first half, and were able to add another late to grab their first win of the season.

Hazard was able to dominate the ball in the opening moments of the game. The Lady Bulldogs were able to get multiple shots on goal early, and at the 26:13 mark they got one to go in. Tabitha Frasure took a pass deep in the box from Caitlin Jensen and pushed it past the goalie for the 1-0 lead.

Shelby Valley was able to tie the game early in the second half. The contest stayed knotted deep into the period until Hazard got the break they were looking for. The Lady Bulldogs intercepted a pass on their side of the field, catching the defense unaware. Stephanie Tom was able to then beat the defense and hit a streaking Tabitha Frasure for the goal (2-1). Time ran out before Shelby Valley could respond, giving the Lady Bulldogs the 2-1 win, and their first victory of the season.

Hazard stats

Tabitha Frasure 2 goals, Caitlin Jensen 1 assist, Stephanie Tom 1 assist and Holly Whitaker 4 saves.
