The R. W. Combs Mustangs and the Leatherwood Wildcats took to the floor in the semifinals of the sixth grade county tournament. The Mustangs left no doubt as to who would be moving on as they jumped out to an early double-digit lead, and finished off the game with a continuous clock.

The Mustangs started the game with a numbing defensive stand that denied the Wildcats a single point in the first period. On the other side of the floor, R. W. Combs was red-hot, leading them to the 17-0 lead at the horn.

R. W. Combs was well into their bench as the second period began and showed no signs of letting up. Leatherwood was eventually able to break the ice, but the one field goal would be all they would muster. Going into the break, the Mustangs were on top 27-2.

The continuous clock came early in the third period, allowing the game to progress quickly. The third period ended with R. W. Combs holding the 36-4 advantage, and ended with the Mustangs moving on with the 38-7 win.

R. W. Combs (38) Noah Back 7, Weston Sizemore 14, Cameron Jones 4, Zach Miller 7, Dylan Cornett 4 and Parker Holbrook 2.

Leatherwood (7) Phillip Slone 3 and Justin Williams 4.
