She was the daughter of the late Ruck Asher and the late Ida Begley Asher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Colwell; sons Milford Ray Colwell and Donald Colwell; sister Norma Jean and brothers Buddy and Carl.
She is survived by daughter Gloria Smith and husband Paul and Ruthene Napier and husband Sherman; sons Hershel Colwell, Jr. and wife Brenda; Paul “Blue” Colwell and Virginia, R.B. Colwell and Jerry Lynn Colwell and Tammy; sisters Shirley Ann, Ruth Helen and Jenny; brother Johnny Asher and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Sunday, September 12. The funeral was held on Monday, September 13 with Rev. Hirley Smith, Sr. and Rev. Hirley Jr. officiating. Interment was at Dry Hill Cemetery located at Leslie County.
