Perry Central placed in the region duals on Saturday for the first time in the history of wrestling at the school.
Perry Central finished third behind the highly ranked teams of Wayne County and Johnson Central after the three advanced as winners of their pools and went head to head in a round robin format. Ashland Blazer finished fourth after tying with Belfrey for the honors.
Perry seniors Brad Williams and Cody Hollon went undefeated during the day, racking up points for their team.
The Commodores hosted the Region 8 Duals at John C. Combs Arena, putting wrestling mats on that floor for the first time. The team normally hosts meets at the Sherman Neace Athletic Center, but the region duals is a larger event that brought in 10 other teams to vie for the chance to advance to state duals in two weeks. The region contains 13 teams, but two teams, McCreary Central and East Ridge, did not attend due to weather concerns.
