On Saturday, the Hazard Bulldogs and the Perry County Central Commodores hooked up in the Black Gold Cup. The Commodores won the first meeting of the season, and were looking to take game two.

The Bulldogs came out strong, and controlled the tempo for much of the first half. Hazard got several good shots on goal, but they were turned away by good defense at the goal.

Midway through the first period, Perry Central began to control the ball on their side of the field. Late in the period, Tyler Mullins took a hard shot at goal, but banged it off the post. The rebound forced the goalie out of position, and Dane Mullins was in the right spot to deposit it for the score (1-0).

Defense dominated play throughout the remainder of the contest, with the each goalie making several great plays on the ball. Perry Central’s lone goal stood as the only score of the game, and the Commodores came away with the Black Gold Cup (1-0).

Perry Central stats: Goals: Dane Mullins 1.
